Previewing the Matchup
  • Evansville and Murray State are meeting for the 36th time in the all-time series with the Aces owning a 21-14 advantage in the series.
  • The Racers took last season's matchup, 61-59, as Macie Turley hit a layup for Murray State with one second remaining to win the game.
  • Last time the two squads met in Murray, the Racers captured an 81-53 win over the Aces in the 2018-19 season opener.
  • The frontcourt duo of Jada Poland and Abby Feit led the way for Evansville against the Racers a season ago. Poland and Feit combined for 30 of the aces' 59 points with Poland leading UE with 16 points on the afternoon.
  • Murray State comes into the matchup with an 0-1 record after a 86-60 loss at Kentucky on Nov. 25.
  • Evansville returns one of its most experienced teams in recent seasons with 80% of the Aces' scoring back from last season, including the top five scorers from 2019-20.
  • Evansville's A'Niah Griffin and  Murray State's Alexis Burpo and Macey Turley have met prior to joining the college ranks. Griffin's DuPont Manual HS faced Burpo and Turley's Murray HS during the 2016 KHSAA Sweet 16 as Griffin scored six points and gathered five boards. Burpo tallied nine points and Turley scored seven points, while contributing a team-high six assists in Murray's 58-41 win.

Youth Movement
  • Last season's Evansville team featured a young cast of players who were mostly playing together for the first time.
  • The 2019-20 roster featured seven underclassmen and three upperclassmen playing their first season in the white and purple.
  • The 2020-21 team is a much more experienced squad, featuring just three newcomers and boasting a squad that started a combined 113 games and includes the Aces top four scorers from last season.
 An Encore for Abby Feit
  • Evansville guard/forward Abby Feit capped-off a tremendous first collegiate season in 2019-20 by being named Missouri Valley Conference Freshman of the Year. Feit becomes the first Ace to solely win the award since Shinko Ono did it in 1999.

Newman's Efficiency
  • Junior guard Anna Newman took her efficiency to another level in 2019-20. The Evansville native led the team in field goal percentage, hitting 45.4% (44-97) of her shots last season, up nearly 20% from her freshman campaign.
MVC Scheduling Update
  • Consistent with health and safety principles, the Conference has adopted a new scheduling format for women's basketball Conference games.
  • The new format significantly reduces travel and places an emphasis on the health and safety of student-athletes, coaches and staff.
  • The Conference will continue to play an 18-game format in which most MVC teams will face one another in a two-game series on back-to-back days at the same site.
  • Each institution will play four road series and four home series and will also face their designated 'travel partner' in a single-game, home-and-home series.
  • All Conference play begins after Christmas.
