Box Score NASHVILLE - Opening the weekend set of four games, the University of Evansville baseball team dropped a contest on the road to Lipscomb, 4-1, on Thursday afternoon in Nashville.
"Caleb Reinhardt pitched a heck of a game to give us a chance," said Aces head baseball coach Wes Carroll. "We just didn't do enough offensively to get the win. We have a lot of baseball to play over the next 5 days so I know we will keep getting better with every opportunity."
Pitching in just his second appearance for the Aces, junior Caleb Reinhardt turned in a strong performance. Reinhardt pitched five innings, allowing just one run on two hits, while striking out four Bisons. After throwing 20 pitches in the first inning, Reinhardt gained control and took a no-hitter into the fifth inning before an RBI double scored Lipscomb's first run of the with two outs in the fifth.
Evansville went down in order in each of the first two innings of the contest, but got the offense going in the top of the third. Sophomore Danny Borgstrom opened the third inning with single through the right side before being thrown out at second later in the inning.
Reinhardt worked himself out of a small jam in the bottom of the third after two runs got on via a walk and a hit-by-pitch with two outs. On the first pitch after the two batters reached, Reinhardt induced a groundout back to himself to end the inning.
