Aces primed for clash with No. 2 Vanderbilt

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - After battling in Nashville over the weekend, the University of Evansville makes a return to the Music City with a showdown with No. 2 Vanderbilt at 4:30 PM on Tuesday evening.

Know Your Opponent 
Vanderbilt enters the mid-week matchup as the second-ranked team in the nation according to D1Baseball.com. The Commodores swept all three games from UIC this past weekend, out-scoring the Flames, 23-5. Ty Duvall (.438) and Cooper Davis (.344) lead Vanderbilt at the plate as the Commodores have out-scored their opposition 47-19 through eight games.

Craig Continues Success: After being named MVC player of the week and one of Collegiate Baseball's National Players of the Week last weekend, junior Tanner Craig continued to hit the ball well this weekend. Craig added two more home runs to his total with homers against Lipscomb and Austin Peay, giving him six on the season. On the year, Craig is hitting .478 with 12 RBI and nine runs scored.

Meyer Takes the Mound: Tuesday will be a memorable occasions for Aces' starter Jakob Meyer, who will take the mound for his first collegiate start on Tuesday. Meyer will be matched up with Vanderbilt freshman Jack Leiter in a dual of freshmen pitchers.

Indiana Stanley Shows Ability
After going hitless in his first five games for the Aces, sophomore Indiana Stanley found his bat towards the end of the weekend. Starting the season 0-14 from the plate, Stanley closed the weekend going 6-10 with seven RBI and a pair of home runs.

Looking to Finish
Evansville has had its successes this season, leading in all but one of its seven games this season, but the Aces are still looking for their first win. This season, Evansville has been dealt a few heartbreaking losses in late innings. The Aces have lost three games in which they held a lead after seventh inning and lost two more that they led going into the ninth.
