Day 1 Results
HUNTINGTON, WV. – The University of Evansville men's and women's track and field teams took down four school records during day one of the Marshall Invitational.
Team wise the men's squad leads the way with 65 points, while the women are in fifth place with 13 points, just two points behind second place Marshall.Â
Breaking his own pole vault school record, Ian Alberts captured first place in the event at a 4.75-meter attempt.
Michael Boots set a new personal best and program record in the men's weight throw with a 14.84-meter second place throw.
Brittany Corley marked a new school record in the women's weight throw with a 11.80-meter toss.Â
Setting her third school record in three meets, Anna Lowry earned second place in the 5,000-meter run at a 17:26.92 clip.
Earning strong results in two events on the day was Trey Riggs, taking second place in the high jump at 1.80-meters and fourth place in the long jump of 6.25-meters. Â
The Purple Aces are back in action Saturday for day two of the Marshall Invitational with the field events slated to begin at 9 a.m. CT, while track races will kick-off at 11 a.m. CT.
