Pep & Vim Athletics Giving
With Pep & Vim kicking-off this morning, we thought it would be appropriate to let you know how your donations to the University of Evansville athletic department impact Aces' student-athletes.
For years, Evansville student-athletes and coaches have enjoyed getting the most out of their college athletic and academic experience because of your generous giving and support. The time they spent at the University of Evansville has left an everlasting mark on their lives and donors, supporters, and fans are to thank for that.
"If it wasn't for donors and alums and people giving to the athletics fund, I wouldn't have been able to do a lot of the things I've done at UE over the past four years," said Evansville Men's Soccer midfielder Jesse Stafford-Lacey. "If it wasn't for the donors, none of this would be possible."
Evansville, both the university and the city community itself, become more than just that for Evansville student-athletes who come from all over the world to make this their home.
"UE athletics gave me a second family and pile of memories for a lifetime," said Aces baseball alumni Kasey Wahl. "For my studies, I was involved in the behind the scenes parts of getting the athletes ready to play and see it all come together on game days/nights. As an athlete, I had the best 4 years and enjoyed every second of the time. Â I learned so many valuable lessons that have shaped me into the person I am today. The lessons I learned being a college athlete at a small school, prepare you more for life ahead than I ever realized then."
Donors and supporters of UE Athletics have helped fund the dreams of thousands of student-athletes for more than 100 years and that's still true for today's current student-athletes.
"I think (giving) is really important, with fundraising and all of that," said Evansville Women's Soccer's Jayme-Lee Hunter. "Not only with fans support, so having people come and support our games, obviously means a lot to us as athletes.Having people cheering on the sideline for us and when we score that winning goal, see the fans' faces and our teammates, that's why you play. But to get to those points, we need to have the resources and as many as we can to help us succeed on the field, in the weight room, as people, in the classroom, so that's why we really appreciate all the resources and the gifts that come from the community."
"All of the money that our supporters give, it helps out the athletes so much," said Evansville Baseball first baseman Tanner Craig. "We just got our brand new turf field that wouldn't be possible without people that give."
During these difficult times, we understand the uncertainty that lies ahead. If you are in a position to give, know that any amount, small or large, can have a great impact on your Aces.
"To anyone: If you can even give a little, it makes a bigger difference than you think it might," said Stafford-Lacey.
