Box Score PEORIA, Ill. - Closing-out the regular season, the University of Evansville men's soccer team equalized the match before falling late, 2-1, to Bradley on Saturday night in Peoria, Ill.
The Aces entered the night having already clinched the right to host a quarterfinals match and are the four seed heading into the postseason and will face No. 5 seed Drake in the MVC Tournament quarterfinals.
On an absolute tear, it was redshirt junior Jakub Hall who led the attack again for the Aces, scoring in the 57th minute on a penalty kick. In goal, Jacob Madden made his 14th-straight start in goal, allowing a pair of goals.
The Braves jumped on the board first in the ninth minute as Kwasi Boateng clipped in a ball from close range that gave Bradley a 1-0 lead. Both sides showcased limited success on the attack in the first half as the Aces and Braves combined to record just three shots in the opening 45 minutes as the match went to the break with Bradley owning the 1-0 advantage.
Evansville's attack held the advantage in the second half, generating seven shots to just two for the Braves. The Aces got the breakthrough they deserved in the 57th minute as freshman Owen Butcher danced into the box and was brought down, earning UE a penalty. On fire over the last two weeks, Hall stepped to the spot and neatly finished to the right side of goal to tie the match at one. Despite the advantage in shots, Bradley would capitalize on its limited opportunities. With just 17 minutes left, Camdyn Starzyk pushed the Braves back in front with a shot from the top of the box. Over the final 15 minutes, Evansville pushed forward, but could not tie the match again in the Braves 2-1 win.
Evansville heads into the postseason at Noon on Tuesday, Nov. 9 against fifth-seeded Drake at Arad McCutchan Stadium. The first 200 fans to enter the match will receive a voucher for a free combo meal, including a hot dog, chips, and drink. Along with the free combo meal promotion to the first 200 fans, all UE students receive free admission to Tuesday's MVC Tournament quarterfinal match.
