EVANSVILLE - 451 days will have separated the University of Evansville men's soccer team between its last competition and their first contest of the 2020-21 campaign when the Aces take the pitch on Saturday to open their season at Lipscomb at 6 PM in Nashville, Tenn.

"Everyone including the coaching staff is looking forward to getting back to competition," said Aces head men's soccer coach Marshall Ray. "It is why we are all involved in college athletics.  Our return to play has been a light at the end of a long tunnel."

Previewing the Matchup: Lipscomb
  • Evansville and Lipscomb are meeting for the 11th time in the all-time series with the series tied, 4-4-3.
  • In the last meeting between the two sides, the Aces and Lipscomb played to a 1-1 overtime draw in which former Ace Jesse Stafford-Lacey scored a stunning goal in the 81st minute to tie the contest.
  • When Evansville steps on the pitch on Saturday, it will be their first appearance as a team in a countable contest in 451 days (Nov. 13, 2019).
  • The Aces are in search of their first victory since a Sept. 14, 2019 triumph over UNC Asheville, 1-0.
  • The last road win for Evansville came in the regular season finale in 2018 when the Aces shocked Bradley, 4-3, with a penalty kick in the 90th minute.
  • Evansville brings back much of its goal-scoring from last season for the fall 2021 campaign. Of the 13 goals scored last season, the Aces return student-athletes who scored nine of the goals in 2019. The only departure from last season's goal scorers is Jesse Stafford-Lacey, who led the team with four goals and graduated with a degree in Sport Communication.
  • After the graduation of Frederik Reimer, Evansville will be tasked with replacing a keeper who spent nearly 4,500 minutes between the posts during his four seasons with the Aces. Looking to fill Reimer's shoes are returning keeper Matt Bryant (redshirt junior) and newcomers Jacob Madden (redshirt sophomore / Appalachian State) and Michael Adams (freshman).
