EVANSVILLE - In a game filled with action, the University of Evansville men's soccer could not capitalize on chances in a 1-0 defeat to Bradley on the road in Eureka, Ill.

"It was a battle today. It was a typical Valley game against a very organized and determined Bradley team," said Aces head men's soccer coach Marshall Ray. "We responded well to giving up a goal early. We came back and were able to get ourselves back in the match late in the first half and I thought in the second half we really created a lot of trouble for Bradley, creating chances and able to push them a little more into their own half."

Bradley struck early for a goal in the 14th minute as a cross in front of the face of the goal by Daniel Chandler found Gerit Wintermeyer at the back post to direct it in and give the Braves the 1-0 advantage. Both teams continued to create chances throughout the opening half as the Braves entered halftime with a 5-4 lead in shots.

The second half started inversely the first half with Evansville coming out on the offensive. The Aces recorded three shots in close succession in the first 15 minutes of the second half, including a shot by junior Davis Peck that was saved in the 54th minute.

The Aces got a boost in the 75th minute as Bradley went down to 10 men after a straight red card was assessed to the Braves. Following the red card, Evansville's offense again found a spark. Just a minute later, the Aces put a shot on frame as senior Filip Johansson had his shot saved.

In the 82nd minutes, sophomore Jakub Hall was brought down in the box and freshman Pablo Guillen stepped to the spot for the penalty. Guillen's attempt narrowly skimmed off the post and bounced out.

Evansville continued its offensive attack in the final five minutes, recording five more shots. Guillen sent a shot with pace on goal in the 89th minute that was saved by Bradley. The ball rebounded back to sophomore Nkosi Graham who headed the shot back towards goal, but had his shot saved.

The Aces out-shot the Braves, 15-7, on the afternoon with six shots on-goal to just two for Bradley. 11 of Evansville's shots came in the second half, while the Aces limited Bradley to just two second half shots.
