Track & Field Heads to KWC Twilight Invitational

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Evansville track and field team travels to Kentucky Wesleyan for the Twilight Invitational on April 2. 
  • The Twilight Invitational begins at 3 p.m. CT with the 10,000-meter run before field events begin at 3:30 p.m. with the shot put. 
  • Anna Lowry continued where she left off during indoor season, smashing three school records in two meets. At the Bill Cornell Invite (March 20), hosted by Southern Illinois, Lowry broke the school record in the 1500-meter with a 4:36.57 time, finishing second, which is the second fastest time in the MVC this season.
  • Lowry also took second at the Bill Cornell Invite (March 20) in the 5000-meter at 17:01.17, which set a new program record. Lowry then smashed the 5000-meter record again at the Bill Smith Invite (March 27) at 16:46.09, which is the third fastest time in the MVC and 40th in the NCAA at large. Lowry finished first in the event among the female runners and third among the male runners in the combined race.  
  • Taiza Alexander took down her own school record in the long jump at the Bill Cornell Invite (March 20), hosted by Southern Illinois. Alexander marked a 5.41-meter jump, finishing in fourth place in the event, which also ranks fourth in the MVC this season. Alexander also set a new PR in the 100-meter at the Bill Cornell Invite at 12.99, finishing in 13th.
  • At the Bill Smith Invite (March 27) Alexander took 1st place in the 100-meter at a time of 13.28, while also taking 1st in the long jump at 5.40-meters.
  • Trey Riggs posted a program record in the 110-meter hurdles at the Bill Cornell Invite (March 20), hosted by Southern Illinois. Riggs time of 14.66 is the third fastest in the MVC. He also took first place in the long jump at 6.83-meters, which also ranks as the third best mark in the conference this season.
  • Riggs also posted good marks at the Bill Smith Invite (March 27) with a 1st place finish in the 110-meter hurdles at 15.09, while also taking second in the long jump with a mark of 6.79-meters.
