OWENSBORO, Ky. – The University of Evansville track and field program competed at the Kentucky Wesleyan Twilight Invitational, Friday night.
The men's squad came away with an overall team victory of 194 points, while the women came in second with 130.5.Â
Taiza Alexander highlighted the day for the Purple Aces with a new program record in the long jump. Alexander posted a 5.50-meter jump to finish first in the event, which is also the fourth-best in the MVC. She also finished fifth in the 100-meters at 13.54.
Also taking down an outdoor school record is, Kylee Peck in the high jump. Peck finished first with a height of 1.55-meters.
Anna Lowry took first place in two events, including a 2:17.07 800-meter run, marking a career-best, and a 4:47.75 1500-meters.Â
Evansville took the top three spots in the pole vault finals, with Mariah Schaefer (3.25m), Caitlin Kehler (3.10m) and McKenna Sapp (3.10m) all measuring marks.
Gwyn Gorley posed a career best in the 400-meter run at 1:03.82, finishing second.
Emma Boebinger took second place in the 10000-meter at 41:54.66, earning a personal best.
On the men's side, Geordan Blades took first in the 100-meter (10.89) and second in the 200-meter (22.45), while Chris Backer took second in the 400 at 53.17.
Zach Dove set a new school record in the discus throw with a 47.51-meters attempt, finishing ahead of the previous record-holder Michael Boots at 46.88-meters.
Joshua Myers took first place in the 3000-meters at 9:00.76, followed by Peter Epur at 9:13.14 in the event. Epur also took third in 1500 at 4:14.45.
On the hurdles, Steven Burkhart and Trey Riggs both took first place in their respective events, Burkhart finished the 400-meter hurdles in 56.30, while Riggs finished the 110-meter event in 14.94. Riggs also took first in the long jump at 6.62-meters.
Ian Alberts took first place in the men's pole vault at 4.35-meters.
