EVANSVILLE - Following an impressive freshman campaign, University of Evansville midfielder Pablo Guillen has been named to the United Soccer Coaches all-region second-team.
"We are excited that Pablo was named an all-region player," said the Aces coaching staff. "He acclimated quickly to college soccer and grew into an important role for our team. We are looking forward to seeing Pablo continue to improve and help our program."
Guillen becomes the first Ace since 2017 to earn all-region recognition, when Ian McGrath (first-team) and Simon Waever (second-team) were both honored by the United Soccer Coaches.
Guillen, a freshman midfielder from La Coruna, Spain, was the leading scorer for the Aces, tallying four goals, playing and starting all 10 matches this season. In April, Guillen became the sixth player in program history to be named MVC Freshman or Newcomer of the Year and also earned all-MVC second team honors. Twice, the freshman dazzled with golazos, including a volley from 35 yards out that finished as the No. 5 play on SportsCenter's Top 10 plays after a home contest against Missouri State.
"I am very grateful to have received this award," said Guillen on receiving the honor. "Thank you very much to my teammates and coaches for supporting me and giving me the opportunity. It is only the beginning."
