NEW ORLEANS - Continuing a long run of academic success, the University of Evansville men's and women's track and field teams again earned honors from the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association, while senior Anna Lowry backed-up her performance on the track with a national academic honor.
For the 19th time on the women's side and the 13th time for Evansville's men, the Aces were honored with the USTFCCCA Team Academic award. The award is given to teams who finish with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher with the Aces women finishing 2020-21 with a 3.401 GPA and the men earning a 3.45 GPA.
Individually, Lowry was named to the all-academic team after posting a 3.744 GPA and excelling on the track, capturing the Missouri Valley Conference title in the 5,000 meters in indoor and winning the Conference championship in the 10,000 meters in outdoor.
Lowry was one of 54 MVC student-athletes to earn the all-academic recognition. To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic honors, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and have met at least one of the following athletic standards:
- Must have completed at least two (2) semesters or three (3) quarters at the nominating institution.
- Athletic criteria for the award:
- For the indoor season:Â must have finished the season ranked in the top 96 in any championship individual event, or in the top 48 in any championship relay event, for the most recent indoor season, certifiable by their place on final season performance lists on TFRRS for Indoor Track and Field (including performances achieved outside the qualifying window during the indoor season).
- For the outdoor season: must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships (the Preliminary Championship Competition and/or the Final Championship Competition) or for the multi-events, must have finished the season ranked in the top 48 in the East or top 48 in the West for the most recent outdoor season, certifiable by their place on the NCAA Division I descending order lists on TFRRS for Outdoor Track and Field.
