EVANSVILLE, Ind. – For the second time this season, University of Evansville freshman swimmer Daniel Santos Lopez (Madrid, Spain) has been named the Mid-American Conference male swimmer of the week after an undefeated showing in UE's 156-106 victory at Bellarmine on Saturday.
Santos Lopez won both his individual events, while also serving as the lead leg of UE's winning 400-yard medley relay and 200-yard freestyle relay teams. Santos Lopez took home his first individual title of the weekend in the 100-yard backstroke, as he won the event by over a second with a time of 52.03. He also cruised to a win in the 50 free with a winning time of 21.75.
Santos Lopez also earned MAC swimmer of the week honors on November 11, after helping UE to a dual meet victory over Saint Louis University in the first-ever meet at the Deaconess Aquatic Center in Evansville. He is just the second male in the MAC this year to earn multiple swimmer of the week honors, joining Ball State's Joey Garberick, who has earned three MAC swimmer of the week honors this year.
