CARBONDALE, Ill. – Following the completion of the third and final day of the A3 Invite, the University of Evansville Swim and Dive teams each came home with fourth place finishes. The Purple Aces Men took fourth place with a score 362 while the Women scored 326 points.
Final Results
The personal bests keep coming, Harry McDowell saw personal bests in the 100 Free and 50 Free (Time Trial), with a 48.46 and 21.83. Sophomore Delaney Miller swam a 54.71 in the 100 Free, and freshmen Robert Hargrove swam a 2:10.80 200 Breast.
In the A Final of the 1650 Free Joseph Capo was 7
th for the Ace's with a final time of 16:18.65. In the morning, freshmen Bryce Ryan and Luke Cook placed 9
th and 12
th with Cook having a personal best time best of 16:53.47.
In the 200 Back Jaley Hamilton placed 11
th, her 2:09.20 being a personal best time. Teammate Luana Carrotta swam a season best 2:10.62 for 14
th. In the morning Captain Boris Tavrosky swam a season best 1:55.25 for 12
th. Freshmen Carter Bolling has a personal best time of 1:58.07, another great performance.
Grace Moody was the highest finisher for the Ace's in the 100 Free, her 51.84 earned her 5
th place. In the B Final Evelyn Chin placed 12
th for the Ace's her 52.92 being a personal best for the junior. Senior Mia Pesavento won the C Final by almost a full second, her time was a 53.68.
The Men's 100 Free saw A Finalist Sammy McCall swim a morning time of 45.94 the fastest time of the Aces this season. In the B Final Michael Pruett swam a 46.24 a solid swim from the junior. In the D Final, freshmen Tyler Jackson won the heat with a 47.90, with teammate Brendan Ulewicz placing just behind Jackson with a 48.19.
The Ace's had a phenomenal performance in the 200 Breast. For the Women, in the morning Claire Mewbourne swam a 2:22.64. A personal best and the ninth fastest time in the UE Record Books. For the Men, in the A Final Joao Guilherme and Chris Rector placed 4
th and 5
th both season best times for the Ace's. Freshmen Jesse Montano dominated the B Final with a time of 2:05.28, the tenth best time in UE History.
Alex Willis had an impressive performance in the 200 Fly, his 1:54.23 placed 7
th for the team. Teammates Wyatt Gallas and Adam Pawlak swam season best times of 1:58.46 and 1:59.86 to top off the event.
In the 400-Free Relay, Grace Moody, Evelyn Chin, Ane Madina, and Jillian Giese placed 3
rd for the Ace's, with a season best effort of 3:32.79. The Men's team placed 3
rd as well, the squad of Michael Pruett, Sammy McCall, Joseph Capo, and Alex Willis swam a 3:04.14. Lead-off Michael Pruett swam his best 100 Free of the day with a 45.99. Great job to the Aces.
