EVANSVILLE - Back on the road in Valley play, the University of Evansville men's soccer team makes its return trip to face SIUE on Saturday at 3 PM in Edwardsville, Ill.
Closing-out the regular season series, Evansville and SIUE meet for the 24th time in series history with the Cougars owning a 12-7-4 advantage in the all-time series. In the previous meeting this year, the Aces grabbed a 2-0 win on Sept. 17 on a pair of goals from Nacho Diaz. The two sides enter the weekend matchup in search of points in a crowded MVC standings. The Aces sit on five points and are currently alone in fourth in The Valley table, while SIUE has three points and is alone in seventh. Missouri State continues to lead the league, grabbing all nine points in its three games so far this season. Since meeting back on Sept. 17th, both the Cougars and Aces attacks have cooled off. Over the last month, SIUE has scored three goals in four matches, while Evansville has averaged a goal per match.
11 games into the season, Evansville has relied heavily on a few members of its backline. Senior defender Ethan Garvey has yet to miss a minute of action this season, while junior defender Oliver Hald has been on the field for all but 19 minutes this year. Two other Aces in Raphaello Perez Colasito and Jon Varela have both seen the field for over 800 minutes in 2022-23.
