EVANSVILLE - Following a thrilling draw with Indiana on Tuesday night, the University of Evansville men's soccer team returns to MVC competition for its final two contests of the regular season, beginning Saturday night with a matchup with UIC at 7 PM in Chicago.

Now conference foes, the Aces and Flames have a very short history with one another, meeting just once back in 1978 with Evansville capturing a 3-1 win over UIC. Saturday presents itself as another crucial contest in a hotly contested MVC as the Aces enter the weekend in third in The Valley table, just one point back of second-place Drake and five back of first-place Missouri State. The Bears and Bulldogs face-off on Friday night and could help clear up or muddy the postseason picture in the MVC. A Missouri State win would solidify the Bears as regular season champions, but a tie or loss would keep the Aces in the hunt. As for the destiny that the Aces can control, a win on Saturday for Evansville would guarantee a top four finish for UE, securing a home first round tournament match.

Evansville continues to lean on newcomers Nacho Diaz and Kai Phillip for much of its scoring with the two combining for 14 of the Aces 22 goals this season. Despite the newcomers doing most of the scoring, it has been returners who have primarily created the chances. Of Evansville's 21 assists this season, 16 have come from returners. In goal it's been the Alex Vidizzoni show, where the graduate transfer has amassed five shutouts and holds a goals-against average just one point over a goal per game at 1.01, while recording five shutouts.
