Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Aces battle to scoreless draw with Bradley

EVANSVILLE - In a match that featured 19 shots, the University of Evansville men's soccer team battled to its second-straight scoreless draw in a 0-0 match with Bradley on Sunday afternoon at Arad McCutchan Stadium in Evansville.

The Aces led the way on the attack, out-shooting the Braves by more than double, with UE owning a 13-6 advantage on shots. Sophomore Nacho Diaz continued to pad his team lead for shots, recording a match-high four on the afternoon, including one on goal. Between the posts, graduate Alex Vidizzoni and redshirt freshman Landon Amick combined for the team's fifth shutout of the season, making two saves in the draw.

Evansville took early control of the match, applying pressure with its attack in the first half. The Aces generated seven corner kicks in the game's opening 30 minutes and recorded multiple good opportunities. Getting the start for the second match in a row, freshman defender Marc Vila nearly scored twice for the Aces in the early going, both coming off corners. In the 18th minute, Vila had a shot that clipped the crossbar and slipped over the top and out and just over 10 minutes later in the 31st minute had a header rattle the left post and deflect out as the match went to the break tied 0-0.

In the second half, Evansville continued to generate chances with the best possibly coming in the 61st minute from senior Nkosi Graham. The Lumberton, New Jersey native dribbled across the top of the 18 and unleashed a shot towards goal that forced a save from the Bradley keeper to maintain the scoreline. Inside the final 10 minutes, the match took its first turn when Alex Vidizzoni was shown a red card, bringing Amick into the match in goal for the remaining minutes. Down a man, the match was restored back to level status in the 89th minute when a Brave received a red card and both teams were reduced to 10 men. The final few minutes saw both teams scramble for a chance, but neither side could produce a goal in the scoreless draw.

Evansville faces a short turnaround before its next match; a tussle with #11 Louisville in non-conference action on Tuesday night at 6 PM (CT) in the Derby City.
