DALLAS - Taking an early lead, the University of Evansville baseball team dropped a 4-3 Saturday matchup with Dallas Baptist in Dallas, Texas.

On the mound, starter Nick Smith went 4.2 innings, allowing four runs and striking-out six. Reliever Drew Dominik was strong for the Aces, finishing the final 3.1 innings scoreless with just two hits allowed.

Center fielder Mark Shallenberger was Evansville's power at the plate on the day. Shallenberger launched a pair of home runs for a total of two RBI on the afternoon. The Aces other RBI on the day came on a single from Eric Roberts in the first.

Evansville led off the game with a solo home run off the bat of Mark Shallenberger that not only handed the Aces a 1-0 lead, but also set a new program record for team home runs in a season with 65.

Later in the first, Eric Roberts ripped a single  through the right side, scoring Tanner Craig to lift UE to a 2-0 lead.

Smith was sharp for Evansville for much of his outing, not allowing his first hit until the fourth inning when Blayne Jones tied the game on a homer to center.

An inning later, DBU took the lead, scoring twice with two outs to go in front, 4-2.

Evansville would get a run back in the top of the seventh on Shallenberger's second home run of the day, this one to center, bringing the Aces back within a run.

In the ninth, Evansville got a runner on with one out, but a double play ended the game as DBU earned a 4-3 win.

The Aces close their series with the Patriots with a 1 PM first pitch on Sunday in Dallas.
