ST. LOUIS, Mo. – University of Evansville senior softball player Mackenzie McFeron (Nashville, Ill./Nashville) has been named to the Missouri Valley Conference's Scholar-Athlete first team in a vote of the league's sports information directors for her work both on the diamond and in the classroom.

On the field, McFeron earned all-MVC second-team honors after a year in which she finished second on the team in batting average at .295.  McFeron is currently tied for sixth in the MVC in triples with three.  She also led UE in league play with a .324 average, which ranked in the top 25 in the conference.  Defensively, McFeron was second on the team with 66 assists at shortstop, while also being a part of a team-best five double plays.

In the classroom, McFeron is one of UE's best with a 3.748 grade point average in Health Services Administration.  She is also the MVC's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) representative on the NCAA's National Committee.

It marks the third-consecutive year in which Evansville has had a first-team MVC Scholar-Athlete selection in softball, as former Purple Ace Eryn Gould earned first team honors in 2020 and 2021.  Overall, McFeron is UE's 16th first-team MVC Scholar-Athlete selection in the sport of softball.
