EVANSVILLE, Ind.—University of Evansville rising junior swimmer Alon Baer (Gesher Haziv, Israel) has been named to the Collegiate Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America's (CSCAA) Scholar All-America second team for his work both in the pool and in the classroom this year. It is the highest academic honor the CSCAA awards to collegiate swimmers
In order to earn Scholar All-America honors, student-athletes must achieve a minimum grade point average of 3.50 or higher during the academic year or semester coinciding with their national championship. To earn second team status as Baer did, the individual must also post an NCAA "B" time standard in the pool.
This past spring, Baer achieved both for UE. In the classroom, Baer posted a 3.673 grade point average this spring, as part of a 3.747 cumulative GPA which he currently carries at UE. In the pool, Baer became just the third male swimmer in UE's Division I history to post an NCAA "B Cut" time with a mark of 54.11 in the 100-yard Breaststroke at the 2022 Mid-America Conference Championships in Carbondale, Illinois.
Baer is the first Purple Ace to earn CSCAA Scholar All-America honors since 2017, when former UE diver Courtney Coverdale earned honorable mention honors.
