EVANSVILLE - Following a road draw with Bellarmine, the University of Evansville men's soccer returns to Arad McCutchan Stadium to host IUPUI at 5 PM on Sunday.
Â
On Thursday night, Evansville twice grabbed a lead, but a late PK snatched a win away from the Aces in the 2-2 draw. Fellow Spaniards Jose Vivas and Nacho Diaz found the back of the net in the opener, while graduate goalkeeper Alex Vidizzoni made three saves, including one on a penalty. IUPUI enters the first weekend after a 2-2 home draw with Marian on Thursday afternoon. The Jaguars scored the opening goal in the ninth minute, but the Knights would return the favor with a pair of goals in the early portion of the second half to take a 2-1 lead before IUPUI captured the draw with a goal in the 67th minute.
IUPUI is coming off a 3-12-1 campaign in 2021, returning three starters from last season's team and entering a new era under head coach Sid van Druenen. The Aces and Jaguars are meeting for the first time since a 2-2 double-overtime draw on Sept. 2, 2018. Sunday will mark just the fifth meeting all-time between the two sides with UE owning a 3-0-1 record against the Jags.
