LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Evansville softball team has been recognized for their outstanding performances in the classroom by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA).
Evansville ranked 25th in the nation in team GPA among Division I softball teams for the 2022-23 school year. With a 3.64 GPA during the academic year, the Aces excelled in the classroom to make the Easton and NFCA Team GPA rankings.
Along with being recognized as a team, 14 players have been named Easton/NFCA All-American Academic Scholar-Athletes. Players named All-American Academic Scholar-Athletes include Alyssa Barela, Kayley Batts, Alexa Davis, Zoe Frossard, Hannah Hood, Taylor Howe, Elle Jarrett, Kaylee Lawson, Paige McAllister, Brooke McCorkle, Callie Meinel, Jenna Nink, Lacy Smith, Ariel Thomasson, and Marah Wood.
The rankings and honors recognize the academic prowess of softball teams across the NFCA's membership categories. Among Division I teams 2,515 student-athletes earned a 3.5 grade-point average or higher for 2022-23. Team GPAs and scholar-athletes are submitted by member head coaches.
