CINCINNATI, Ohio – The University of Evansville men's soccer team fell to No. 18 Xavier, 4-0, Tuesday night.
Evansville recorded its first scoring opportunity in the ninth minute when Alex Tura put a shot on goal that was saved by the Xavier goalkeeper. The Musketeers responded two minutes later, scoring in the 11th minute to take a 1-0 lead.
Xavier continued to apply pressure over the next seven minutes, with Hugo Amo making three saves, including one on a penalty kick.
The Musketeers doubled its lead in the 26th minute.
Chances were limited over the final 20 minutes of the opening half, with Evansville recording the only shot of the stretch. The shot from Leon Suzuki was saved by Xavier's goalkeeper as the Musketeers carried a 2-0 advantage into halftime.
Amo made his fifth save of the night in the 73rd minute, denying Xavier's first shot on goal of the second half.
Xavier converted a penalty kick in the 80th minute before adding another goal in the 90th minute to secure the 4-0 victory.
With the loss, Evansville falls to 2-6-2 on the season. The Aces return to action on Sunday, traveling to Kalamazoo, Michigan, to face Western Michigan in a rematch of the 2025 MVC Championship game.
