Seehafer Takes Long Jump Crown to Highlight Outdoor Season Opener

ST. LOUIS – University of Evansville freshman Josie Seehafer (Inver Grove Heights, Minn./Eagan) took home the long jump title at the SLU Speed/Power Festival, highlighting the start of outdoor track & field season.

Women
All three Aces to compete posted personal bests, with Chase Hayes (Noblesville, Ind./Wester) and Kyleigh Wolf (Columbus, Ind./Columbus North) clocking times of 17:35.67 and 18:55.39 in the 5000 meters and Avery Stephens (Newburgh, Ind./Castle) posting a time of 36:42.16 in the 10,000 meters. 

Men
Rafael Rodriguez (Segovia, Spain/Colegio Claret) had a strong showing in the 1500 meters, placing 13th of 44 and notching a personal best with a time of 3:50.27. Three Aces competed in the 5000 meters, led by Nathan Campbell (Bloomington, Ind./Bloomington North) with a time of 15:12.98.

Women
Seehafer highlighted the day with a first place finish in the long jump, using a mark of 5.37 meters to take the crown. Seehafer picked up another top ten finish in the 400 meters, placing eighth at 1:00.16. Taylor Johnson (Evansville, Ind./Reitz) also had a strong day, placing second in the 400 meters at 1:04.11 and fourth in the 200 meters with a time of 25.42.

In the 100 meter hurdles, Lissa Willis (Vincennes, Ind./Vincennes Rivet) finished sixth in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 16.60, while Mya Baker (Noblesville, Ind./Noblesville) placed sixth in long jump at 5.05 meters and Emma Bertel (Franklin, Ind./Franklin Community) took sixth in the shot put with a mark of 10.73 meters. 

Men
There were numerous strong performances from the men's squad, led by the 4x100 meter relay team of Josiah Hoehn (Hazel Crest, Ill./Homewood-Flossmoor), Myles Terry (Evansville, Ind./North), Jose Ocampo (Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico), and Connor Shin (Bloomington, Ind./Bloomington North) placing second with a time of 42.07.

In the 100 meters, Hoehn led three Aces with a sixth place finish at 11.01. Hoehn also led the way int he 200 meters, placing fourth at 22.17, while Terry finished eighth at 22.56. In the 800 meters, Kadin McAllister (Lilburn, Ga./Parkview) took fifth at 2:01.56 and Hayden Wannemuehler (Evansville, Ind./Mater Dei) took tenth at 2:05.47. 

Three Aces placed in the top 10 int he 110 meter hurdles, led by Hoehn in fifth at 15.50 and followed by Brody Riggs (Fort Branch, Ind./Gibson Southern) in sixth at 15.65 and Tristin DeTalente (Evansville, Ind./North) in eighth at 17.31.

Riggs continued his strong day in the 400 meter hurdles with a fourth place finish at 1:01.96 and in the high jump, placing second at 1.78 meters. In the long jump, Jude Nguyen (Farmington Hills, Mich./North Farmington) led three Aces with an eighth place finish at 6.10 meters,
