PEORIA, Ill. – The University of Evansville women's basketball team dropped their final regular season road game on Thursday night, suffering an 82-61 setback against Bradley in Peoria. Evansville trailed by three at the half, but the Aces were outscored 30-11 in the third quarter.
Camryn Runner (Cicero, Ind./Hamilton Heights) led the Aces offensively with 14 points and six assists. Georgia Cox (Ballarat, Australia/Eastern Illinois) added 12 points, five rebounds and four assists, while Kylee Norkus (Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley) scored in double digits for the third game in a row with 11 points.
Evansville grabbed the lead in the early going, with Cox scoring the first five points of the game. Bradley would battle back to take a 10-9 lead, but a 7-0 run capped by a three-pointer from Norkus put the Aces back in front, 16-12. However, the Braves scored the last seven points of the quarter to go up by two.
The game remained tight in the third quarter, with the Braves hanging on to a slim advantage. At the 3:16 mark, Runner cut the deficit to one with a three-pointer. After Bradley answered back with two baskets of their own, Runner made another triple to make the score 36-33, which is where it remained heading into halftime.
The Aces and Braves traded a pair of baskets to start the third quarter, but Bradley would go on a run to pull away, scoring 12 unanswered points to open up a 15-point lead. Bradley remained in control for the remainder of the quarter, increasing their lead to 22 heading into the fourth.
Elle Snyder (Latrobe, Pa./Greater Latrobe) found her three-point shooting stroke in the fourth quarter, knocking down a pair of threes, but the Braves were able to cruise to an 82-61 win.
Evansville is back inside Meeks Family Fieldhouse on Sunday for the regular season finale, taking on Southern Illinois. Tip-off is set for 2 PM and will serve as Evansville's Fan Appreciation Day, featuring special giveaway prizes for fans throughout the game
