WATERLOO, Ill. – Posting one of the lowest scores in University of Evansville history, Omar Khalid is tied for the lead following the opening round of the 2026 Missouri Valley Conference Men's Golf Championship at Annbriar Golf Club.

Khalid recorded a 6-under 65 on Sunday and is tied for the lead with Anthony De Schutter of Southern Illinois. Khalid's 65 is tied for the second-lowest round in program history. The duo paces the field by two strokes heading into the second round.

Daniil Romashkin and Julian Kiessling are tied for 22
nd in the individual standings. Both carded scores 74, three over par. Jamison Ousley finished the day one behind them with a 75. Mason Taylor registered a 77 to open the tournament and is tied for 37
th place.

Evansville is 5
th in the team standings with a 288. The Purple Aces are one behind Bradley and just nine off leader Southern Illinois. The Salukis had a 279 in the first round and lead Murray State by three strokes.
