Aces Set to Host UIC for Pivotal Series

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Evansville baseball team continues a crucial stretch of MVC play this weekend, playing host to the UIC Flames for a three-game series. First pitch for Friday's series opener is set for 6 p.m. 

Evansville will welcome back alumni of the baseball program this weekend, with a special recognition for two championship teams. On Friday, the 50th anniversary of the 1976 ICC Championship team will be celebrated with an on field acknowledgment, while Saturday will feature the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the 2006 MVC Championship squad with a pregame recognition and ceremonial first pitch.

- Friday marks the 33rd meeting between Evansville and UIC

Honoring the Past
- Evansville will recognize a pair of championship teams as a part of alumni weekend at German American Bank Field at Charles H. Braun Stadium
- Friday's recognition will honor the 1976 Purple Aces. Coached by Bob Hodges, the Aces finished the season with a 21-16 record and won their second consecutive Indiana Collegiate Conference title with a conference record of 10-2 to qualify for their second consecutive NCAA Division II Mideast Regional
- On Saturday, Evansville will honor the 2006 Purple Aces. Under the direction of Dave Schrage, the Aces finished the year with a 43-22 record and a 16-8 record in MVC play, winning the MVC Regular Season and Tournament titles. Evansville was sent to the Charlottesville Regional for the NCAA Tournament, defeating host Virginia to advance to the program's first NCAA Regional Final
