ST. LOUIS – After helping lead the Aces to a series victory over Valparaiso to clinch a berth in the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament, University of Evansville catcher Spike Magill (Highlands Ranch, Colo./Mountain Vista) has been named Missouri Valley Conference Freshman of the Week, the league office announced on Monday afternoon.

Magill continued to be the catalyst of the Evansville lineup last weekend against the Beacons, hitting .583 (7-for-12) to help the Aces take two of three games. Magill went 3-for-4 at the plate in both of Evansville's wins in Valparaiso while reaching base at a .615 clip on the series.
 
Magill has enjoyed an exceptional freshman campaign, both at the plate and in the field. Magill leads the Aces and ranks 12^th in the MVC with a .312 batting average, including a .320 mark in Missouri Vallery Conference play. Additionally, the Aces' backstop has been one of the top on base threats in the country, ranking 24^th nationally and first in the Valley in on base percentage at .505. Magill has reached base in all 45 games he has appeared in this season, the longest streak in the Missouri Valley Conference since 2024.

The Aces are back in action on Thursday to begin the final series of the regular season, taking on the Murray State Racers at German American Bank Field at Charles H. Braun Stadium. First pitch is set 6 p.m.
