Amber Scalia Joins Women's Basketball Staff as Graduate Assistant Coach

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Amber Scalia has joined the University of Evansville women's basketball coaching staff as a Graduate Assistant, Head Coach Ben Wierzba announced on Wednesday afternoon.
 
A standout on the hardwood at two Division I institutions, Scalia helped lead Miami University to MAC regular season and tournament titles as a senior in 2025-26. Scalia played in 35 games with 34 starts, helping the Redhawks to a 28-7 record. She finished the year second on the team in scoring at 13.7 points per game, scoring in double figures 28 times with a team-high 68 three pointers. Scalia was named MAC Tournament MVP after averaging 16.7 points in three games, helping Miami clinch a berth in the NCAA Tournament. Against fourth-seeded West Virginia in the NCAA Tournament, Scalia led the team with 14 points.
 
Prior to her time in Oxford, Scalia spent three seasons at St. Thomas University, where she was a two-time Summit League All-Conference Honorable Mention honoree. During her time with the Tommies, Scalia scored 1,091 points and shot 34% from behind the arc. As a junior in 2024-25, Scalia averaged 14.8 points and 3.6 rebounds per game, scoring 20-plus points eight times. In 2023-24, Scalia scored 16.8 points per game to lead the Tommies and was named the St. Thomas Female Athlete of the Year.
 
A native of Stillwater, Minnesota, Scalia graduated from Miami University in 2026 with a degree in Kinesiology.
