BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The University of Evansville men's soccer team dropped their second contest of the season on Sunday night, falling to 22
nd-ranked Indiana by a score of 3-0 in Bloomington.
The game was scoreless early, with neither side managing a goal in the first 30-plus minutes of the match. Chase Ricker (Albuquerque, N.M./La Cueva) put the first shot on goal of the night in the eighth minute, but his shot was saved.
In the 34
th minute, Indiana broke through with the first goal of the night, and would take the lead into the halftime break.
The Indiana lead remained at one early in the second half, with the two sides trading a pair of chances. In the 56
th minute, Evansville keeper Hugo Amo (Burgos, Spain/Casper CC) thwarted a Hoosiers chance, making a save on a shot off a corner kick. In the 62
nd minute, the Aces saw a chance of their own, but Alex Tura (Barcelona, Spain/UNIR) saw his shot saved.
Indiana added to their lead in the 65
th minute, making it a 2-0 game. The score remained 2-0 until the 85
th minute, when the Hoosiers scored once more to secure a 3-0 win.
Tura and Miles Taylor (Danville, Calif./San Ramon Valley) led the Aces with two shots apiece, while Ricker and Tura put shots on goal. Amo made two saves in goal.
Evansville is back on action this Friday for their home opener, hosting Northwestern at Arad McCutchan Stadium. The Aces will celebrate Alumni Weekend, playing their annual Alumni Game on Saturday afternoon. Kickoff for Friday's match against the Wildcats is set for 7 p.m.
