NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Three players finished with double digit kills to pace the University of Evansville volleyball team to a 3-1 road win over Tennessee State on Thursday at Kean Hall Gymnasium.
 
Leading the way for the Purple Aces was Wren Jones. She posted a career-high 16 kills to go along with ten digs. McKenzie Laubach finished with a season-high 10 kills while Lyla Fisher matched that tally. Kendall Agler set her career mark with 31 digs while Carsyn Kelley posted 32 assists. Tennessee State was led by Wiktoria Jakubik's 18 kills.
 
Set 1 – UE 25, Tennessee State 19
 
Tennessee State had the early momentum opening a 6-2 lead before taking their largest lead at 13-8. Ryan Scheu got the Aces back on track with a kill before McKenzie Laubach added an ace to make it a 13-10 game. The turning point came with the Tigers up 16-14. Two errors were followed by a Wren Jones kill that gave Evansville a 17-16 advantage. After the Tigers tied the score at 17-17, the Aces completed the set on an 8-2 run to take a 1-0 lead.
 
McKenzie Laubach was pivotal down the stretch recording five kills in UE's final seven points of the frame.
 
Set 2 – UE 25, Tennessee State 23
 
Another strong start saw the Tigers jump out to a 7-4 edge. The Aces fought back with three in a row to tie the game before taking their first lead at 9-8. An ace from Jones established UE's largest lead to that point at 13-10. Carsyn Kelley added an ace that pushed the advantage to 20-16 while Makenzie Miller provided the clinching kill in a 25-23 decision that gave Evansville a 2-0 edge in the match.
 
Set 3 – Tennessee State 31, UE 29
 
Looking to clinch the match, Evansville scored the opening four points of the third set. Kills from Laubach, Scheu, and Lyla Fisher were followed by another ace from Jones. Carlotta Pascual Centelles registered a kill to extend the lead to 9-4 before a Tiger error pushed the score to 11-5. The Tigers refused to give up as they stormed back to tie the game at 17-17.
 
Following a time out, the Aces scored three in a row including two more Jones kills. TSU rallied once again to tie the score at 22-22 before taking their first lead of the set at 23-22. Lyla Fisher took over at that point picking up consecutive kills to tie the score before recording an ace to put UE in front at 25-24. The teams continued to battle with TSU picking up the final two points to send the math to a fourth set.
 
Set 4 – UE 25, Tennessee State 23
 
Evansville scored the opening two points and slowly built up a 7-point lead. Back-to-back kills from Pascual Centelles pushed the advantage to 11-6 with Scheu adding another kill to make it a 16-9 game. UE held an 18-11 advantage before the Tigers staged another furious rally. Going on an 11-4 run, TSU tied the score at 22-22. Scheu and Jones countered with
