EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Freshman Lyla Fisher had her top performance of the season finishing with 16 kills to lead the University of Evansville volleyball team to a 3-1 win over Tennessee State on Saturday inside Meeks Family Fieldhouse.
 
Fisher's effort passed her mark of 15 kills that came against Rutgers. Carlotta Pascual Centelles had 11 kills while Ryan Scheu recorded nine. Kendall Agler posted 11 digs while Carsyn Kelley finished with 28 assists. Wiktoria Jakubik led the Tigers with 12 kills.
 
Set 1 – UE 25, Tennessee State 15
Wren Jones, McKenzie Laubach, and Lyla Fisher picked up early kills to lead the Aces to a 5-1 lead. Ryan Scheu and Makenzie Miller combined on a block that pushed the advantage to 9-3. After the Tigers cut the deficit to four (12-8), UE scored six in a row to go up by a score of 18-8. Miller added consecutive service aces during the rally. Carlotta Pascual Centelles had the clinching kill to give UE a 25-15 win and a 1-0 match lead.
 
Set 2 – Tennessee State 25, UE 22
 
The teams swapped the lead on multiple occasions in the early going with TSU taking a 4-2 lead before Evansville gained a 9-7 edge on back-to-back kills by Pascual. After the Tigers retook an 11-10 edge, Scheu tied the score with McKenzie Laubach following with a kill and block assist to put UE back in front at 14-12.
 
Five consecutive tallies by Tennessee State turned tides as they jumped in front at 17-14. UE got as close as one before TSU tied the match with a 25-22 decision.
 
Set 3 – UE 25, Tennessee State 11
 
After TSU scored the opening two points, Evansville responded with six in a row and never looked back. Miller picked up a kill before a Lexi Owen ace pushed the lead to 12-4. Scheu notched a kill that made it an 18-8 game and the squad held strong from that point, taking the frame by a final tally of 25-11.
 
Set 4 – UE 25, Tennessee State 20
 
Two kills from Lyla Fisher saw UE take a 3-0 lead to open the set while her third kill of the frame extended the lead to 7-4. TSU made a run to tie the game at 9-9, however, UE responded with four in a row. Carsyn Kelley picked up consecutive aces during the rally. Brooke Herdes added an ace that gave her team a 19-13 advantage. The Tigers stormed back once again to get within one (20-19) with Wren Jones providing the answer for the Aces. Back-to-back kills made it a 22-19 game and the Aces clinched the match with a 25-20 victory.
