Biography
At Evansville: Anaris Sickles will push for playing time along UE’s frontline this season...An extremely talented offensive player with a soft touch around the basket and good range...A strong player who is not afraid to battle for rebounds in the paint...Can play both power forward and center for UE.
2006-2007: Sickles was the only UE newcomer to play in all 31 games last season...Led UE’s rookie class in both scoring (4.7 points per game) and rebounding (3.4 rebounds per game)...Posted the second-highest single-season free throw percentage in UE history at 89.6 percent (60-for-67)...Also shot 40.0 percent from the floor and went 3-for-6 from three-point range...Shot an even 50.0 percent from the floor in MVC play...Named the MVC Rookie of the Week in her first week as a Purple Ace...Recorded a double-double in just her second game at UE, with 14 points and 10 rebounds at Austin Peay (11/14)...Also had 14 points and seven boards in UE’s 98-91 overtime victory over Indiana State (1/4)...Pitched in 11 points each against Lipscomb (11/19) and Wichita State (12/30)...Had nine points and seven boards at Indiana (11/30)...Grabbed five or more rebounds in a game 11 different times...Finished the year making 14 of her last 15 free throws.
At Lexington Catholic: A consensus first team All-Kentucky forward from national powerhouse Lexington Catholic High School...Helped the Knights to their second-straight Kentucky state title in 2006 and a No. 3 ranking nationally in the final USA Today High School poll...Averaged 11 points and 10 rebounds per game as a senior...Holds the LCHS record for career rebounds with 1,478...Also ranks fourth all-time in school history in scoring with 2,093 career points...Became the first player in Kentucky high school history (boys and girls) to start in four-straight state championship games...Was named the 2005 Kentucky Sweet 16 Tournament MVP after helping the Knights to the state title...A three-time all-district, all-region, and all-state performer...Helped Lexington Catholic to a 132-15 overall record during her high school career...A teammate of UE junior Shannon Novosel for three seasons with the Knights.
