Biography

2008 – Honorable Mention selection on MVC Men's Soccer Scholar-Athlete Team...played in all 18 matches, and started up front in the first two, against Detroit and Central Arkansas...often one of the first players off the bench...saw action as a forward and midfielder...made the assist on Tad Kreamalmeyer's second goal in a 6-0 win over Centenary...put two shots on goal against Bradley in MVC Tournament...also scored in each of UE's two exhibition matches.

2007 – Versatile player who started in four of his last five matches...helped in both the midfield and on defense...one of the reasons why UE held opponents to 1.55 goals per game, the best defensive average since 1997...scored a goal against Drake...assisted on Stephen Minyono’s goal against Belmont.

2006 – Chosen at season’s end as UE’s Most Improved Player...played in 10 matches as a freshman...one of the Aces’ top reserve midfielders...missed several matches in October with a leg injury...smooth, creative midfielder who scored his first collegiate goal in the Aces’ 4-1 victory at Bowling Green...versatile player who saw action as a midfielder and defender.

Club/High School – Honorable mention all-state, all-conference and all-district selection at Cape Central High School...helped lead Tigers to three consecutive District championships, and a 22-6-1 record in 2005...outstanding player at the club level with the versatility to play multiple positions...earned three letters in high school in soccer, two in golf.

Personal – Samuel Avery Bornstein...born April 9, 1988 in Boston, Mass...son of Allan and Nancy Bornstein...has one older brother, Aaron...outstanding high school student who expects to major in mechanical engineering.
