Chris Loftus

Head coach Mike Jacobs was convinced almost a decade ago that Chris Loftus would make an outstanding coach when his playing days ended. Now, Jacobs has given Loftus his first coaching assignment, as an assistant on the UE staff. Loftus joined the Aces early in 2010.

A team captain at Duke University in 2005 and 2006 who went on to play professionally for the MLS New England Revolution, and Limhamn Bunkeflo in Sweden, Loftus will assist in all facets of the program at UE.  Jacobs was an assistant coach at Duke from 2002 through 2005.

"I had the opportunity to recruit and coach Chris at Duke University, and he was an outstanding player and leader on some very good teams," according to Jacobs. "He is someone I had always hoped to work with again, and it's great to see that become a reality."

A native of Springfield, Ill., Loftus helped lead Duke to the 2004 College Cup. He was also a team captain on the Blue Devils' ACC championship teams in 2005 and 2006. Loftus was an all-ACC midfielder, and earned the Duke Blue Award for leadership. He graduated a semester early, in December of 2006, with a degree in psychology while also completing his pre-med requirements. Loftus played for the Revolution in 2007, and for Limhamn Bukeflo in 2008 and 2009.
