After a two-year stint at Drury, Ian Henry was named an assistant coach on the UE men’s soccer staff on March 9, 2015.
Henry also served as an assistant coach each of the last two seasons at Drury, a Division II school in the Great Lake Valley Conference. He helped direct the Panthers to 28 wins over that time, posting a second place finish in the GLVC and once punching a ticket to the second round of the NCAA tournament.
Along with being an assistant at Drury, Henry was the head coach of the Springfield Demize in the USL’s Premier Development League. He guided the Demize to its best season ever in his first season. The squad finished third in conference and ranked second nationally in goals against average.
Prior to Drury, Henry also spent time with SIUE, where he was responsible for planning and organizing training sessions.
In addition to college and PDL coaching experiences, Henry was a full time director for St. Louis Scott Gallagher Soccer Club. In that time, he was responsible for youth development and coached a number of athletes who would go on to top NCAA DI programs.
“I would like to thank Marshall and Director of Athletics Mark Spencer for giving me the opportunity to join the staff,” Henry said. “We aim to create a winning program, both in the MVC and NCAA Tournament. I would also like to thank Coach Ryan Swan and my former players at Drury, who gave me some fantastic memories over the last two years. I am looking forward to creating many more here at Evansville.”
