Former University of North Carolina at Asheville standout Michael Pereira joined the University of Evansville coaching staff in the spring of 2011.

Pereira (pronounced puh-RARE-uh) brings a National Goalkeeping Diploma and USSF 'D' license with him to Evansville.  He was a four-year letterman at Asheville from 2004-07, earning Big South All-Tournament, Big South All-Freshmen Team and Big South Player of the Week honors during his career.  He also served as a staff member at the UNCA, Clemson and North Carolina State soccer camps during college.

Following graduation in 2008, Pereira worked for Tucker Kirby Construction Supply for two years.  He also served as the Triangle Futbol Club head coach for ages 5-18 from 2008-11, and boys' varsity assistant coach at Green Hope High School.

"Mike has an excellent playing and coaching pedigree, and has the potential to become an outstanding young coach," according to Head Coach Mike Jacobs.  "He will be a tremendous asset to our coaching staff, and will assist in all facets of our program."
