Steve McCullough begins his second year as director of operations for the University of Evansville soccer program in 2010. McCullough served as goalkeepers coach at UE in 1996 and 1997, and from 2002 through 2005. Among the players he coached was Troy Perkins, who went directly from the University of Evansville in 2003 to the MLS, where he quickly became an All-Star. Perkins also played in Europe before returning to his former MLS team, DC United, this year.
"Steve has a wealth of experience as a player and coach," according to head coach Mike Jacobs. "It is a huge plus to be able to have him on our staff."
The Evansville native and graduate of Evansville Reitz High School was an All-Great Lakes Region goalkeeper, team captain, and Most Valuable Player at Marquette University in the mid-90s before returning to Evansville. He has been active in coaching at the club level, in addition to his collegiate coaching experience. McCullough has coached the Evansville Soccer Club 97 boys for the past five years, and was the 2007 Indiana Youth Coach of the Year. He holds an NSCAA National License, NSCAA Goalkeeper Level 1 and 2, and USSF D License.
Steve and his wife, Tamala, have three children: Caden, Kennedy and Jaxson.
