Biography

2008 – Has played more minutes than anyone on the team...three-year starter...one of five players to start in every match in 2008...left-footed player who combines excellent skills and speed from his left side position on defense...excellent server of the ball...strong at winning 50-50 balls...made assists against 14th ranked UC Santa Barbara and 16th ranked Indiana.

2007 – Ranked fourth in the Missouri Valley Conference with seven assists...assisted on two goals in the Aces’ 3-2 overtime win at Butler...made assists in three straight games, against Belmont, Valparaiso and Mercer...scored his first collegiate goal against Lipscomb... scored UE’s first shootout goal against Missouri State in the MVC quarterfinals to help UE advance.

2006
– Excellent addition to the team who earned the Purple Aces’ Ironman Award for leading the squad in minutes played at 91 per match...left-side player who was solid in defending and leading the attack from his defensive position...tallied assists in victories against Wisconsin-Green Bay and Bowling Green...earned a place last winter on the New Zealand U-20 National Team, which qualified for the U-20 World Cup that take place in July in Canada...became the 26th Evansville player to compete for a National Team.

High School/Club – Began his career with the New Zealand Under-20 National Team in the winter of 2006, prior to attending UE...earned the Hornal Trophy in 2005, for being the highest achiever in athletics at Newlands...competed in cricket, tennis and squash.

Personal – Kieran Robert Purcell...born April 27, 1988 in Wellington, New Zealand...son of Robert and Lee Purcell...has one younger sister, Alycia...expects to major in education.

Coach Jacobs On Kieran: “Kieran had a great start to his career last season, and his experiences at the Under-20 World Championships have only given him more confidence. He is what you want from a left back – he gets up and down the line, is always involved in the attack and is a very capable 1 v 1 defender.”

Kieran On UE: “U.S. college soccer provides a good stepping stone toward become professional. Once I got here, I really enjoyed everything about the Evansville campus and community. Everyone is very supportive.”
