Biography

At Evansville:  Ashley Austin is expected to once again battle for a starting spot in the UE backcourt this year as a senior...A strong and quick guard who is one of the MVC’s best perimeter defenders...Will likely rank among UE’s career leaders in steals before her career is up...A consistent scoring threat who can play both guard positions for UE.

2007-2008:  Austin played and started in all 33 games at guard as a junior...Earned honorable mention MVC Scholar-Athlete status and MVC All-Defensive Team honors...Led UE and ranked third in the MVC in steals with 61, the seventh-highest single-season total in UE history...Ranked second on the team in three-point field goals made (24), third in assists (53), and fourth in scoring (9.1 ppg)...Also averaged 3.7 rebounds per game...Scored in double-figures 17 times, including a career-best 18 points in UE’s 70-55 win over Ball State (12/8)...Had a team-high 16 points, five rebounds, and a career-best five steals in UE’s 57-55 win over Northern Iowa (2/28)...Had nine of her 12 points in the second half to help UE rally from a 19-point second-half deficit and defeat Southeast Missouri State in the first round of the 2008 Postseason WNIT (3/20)...Recorded her first career double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds vs. Drake (1/20)... Surpassed every statistical mark of her first two years at UE combined as a junior.

2006-2007:  Appeared in all 31 games with 23 starts at guard ...Averaged 5.4 points per game...Shot a team-best 47.4 percent from three-point range (9-for-19)...Also ranked fourth in free throw accuracy at 80.6 percent (50-for-62)...Third on the team in assists (34) and fourth in steals (29)...Shot 43.9 percent from the floor in MVC play...Recorded seven double-figure scoring games...Scored a season-high 15 points against both Morehead State (11/11) and Missouri State (1/1)...Had 11 points on 5-of-6 shooting from the floor vs. Creighton (1/21), while also dishing out a season-high four assists... Also pitched in 11 points against Portland State (12/16) and Northern Iowa (2/8)...Had 10 points and a career-high five steals at Bradley (1/13)...Started UE’s final 16 games.

2005-2006:  Made a rookie-high 12 starts, while playing in 25 of UE’s 29 games...Led UE’s rookie class in both assists (16) and steals (23)...Averaged 2.4 points and 1.9 rebounds per game...Shot 37.5 percent from three-point range...Ranked fifth on the team with nine three-point field goals...Earned UE’s Most Improved Player award after going from playing 16 total minutes in UE’s first eight games to starting 12-straight MVC games...Scored a season-high 12 points on 4-of-6 shooting from three-point range vs. Creighton (1/22)... Made her first career start at Missouri State (1/14)...Swiped two or more steals seven times in MVC play...Also played in one game with the UE softball team as a pinch-runner.

At Collins Hill: A 2005 Georgia High School All-Star...Nominee for the McDonald’s High School All-America game...Averaged 12 points, four rebounds, three assists, and two steals per game as a senior for a team ranked fifth in the nation by USA Today...Helped Collins Hill to a pair of Georgia state championships and a 113-11 overall record over her four years...Named the Atlanta Tip-Off Club Player of the Month as a senior...Also named to the Gwinnett Tip-Off Club all-county team...High school teammate of UConn All-American Maya Moore...Lettered four years in basketball and two years in softball...Helped the Eagles’ softball team to a third place finish in Georgia as a junior...All-county in softball...Graduated in the top 10 percent of her class.
