Nicki Motto will enter her fifth season working with Evansville’s women's basketball program in 2012-13. She spent her first year as the Director of Basketball Operations, and then was elevated to assistant coach for the 2009-10 and 2010-11 seasons. For Coach Oties Epps, Motto works closely with the Aces’ guards and assists with recruiting, on-court coaching and game preparation.

“I'm extremely excited to retain Nicki,” said Coach Epps upon his hiring. “She is very passionate about the University of Evansville and our women's basketball program. Nicki's familiarity with the program is a great asset to have and she has a great rapport with our student-athletes. Furthermore, she has a strong understanding of the game and she is passionate about teaching our young women the importance of servant hood, humility and trust.”

Motto began her college career at Indiana University in 2000, as she played in 12 games as a true freshman for the Hoosiers during the 2000-01 season. After sitting out the 2001-02 season due to transfer rules, Motto became a mainstay in the starting lineup at Miami University, where she helped the RedHawks to the 2004 Mid-American Conference championship behind a school-record 79 three-point field goals. Motto would finish her Miami career ranked fourth in school history in career three-point field goals made with 182, despite playing just three seasons for the RedHawks.

After graduating from Miami in 2005 with a degree in physical education and a minor in coaching, Motto worked as a substitute teacher in her hometown of Dayton, Ohio, while working as an administrative assistant at the University of Dayton for the women’s basketball program. Motto then began her collegiate coaching career in 2006, as she joined the coaching staff at Indiana State as an assistant coach. At Indiana State, Motto worked with the Sycamore post players, while assisting with film exchange, team travel, and ISU’s Sycamore Squad.

Motto moved on to Division III Earlham College in Richmond, Indiana in 2007 to serve as the program’s assistant coach and recruiting coordinator. She was in charge of all out-of-state recruiting for the Quakers, while working with both the backcourt and frontcourt players during practice. Motto also directed all aspects of the Quake Kids Club in its inaugural year of existence. In her first season at Evansville, Motto handled UE’s film exchange, team travel, and community service efforts, while also being in charge of UE’s summer camps.

Motto holds a bachelor’s degree in physical education from Miami University, conferred in 2005, and received a master’s degree in public service administration from UE in May 2010.
