Biography

2009-10:  Benson was one of four players to play in all 30 games as a sophomore, with six starts at center for the Purple Aces...Averaged 4.3 points and 1.6 rebounds per game in an average of 14.7 minutes per contest...Ranked third on the team in field goal percentage at 39.5 percent...Also ranked fourth on the squad with 10 blocked shots...Recorded the first two double-figure scoring games of her UE career as a sophomore...Led UE with a career-high 14 points on 6-of-7 shooting from the floor against MVC regular-season champion Illinois State (2/18)...Also led the team with 11 points on 5-of-6 shooting from the floor against Big East member Villanova at the DoubleTree Classic in Chattanooga, Tennessee (11/27)...Had nine points at State Farm MVC Tournament champion Northern Iowa (1/9)...Had eight points and a career-best three rejections at Butler (12/2) in non-conference play...Averaged 6.5 ppg in non-conference play, but scored above six points just twice in MVC play.

2008-09:  Played in 32 of UE’s 34 games with two starts at center as a freshman...Led the squad in field goal accuracy (44.8 percent) while averaging 2.4 points and 1.7 rebounds per game...Emerged down the stretch as a reliable post presence for UE, averaging 5.1 ppg and 2.9 rpg on 53.1 percent shooting from the floor (17-for-32) over the final eight games...Posted a season-high eight points in back to-back wins over Illinois State (3/13) and Bradley (3/14) at the State Farm MVC Tournament...Grabbed a season-high eight rebounds at Creighton (2/12)...Scored 60 of her 76 points and grabbed 35 of her 54 rebounds in UE’s final 14 games...Hit 14 of her last 17 free throws (82.4 percent).

At Overton:  A consensus first team all-state forward from Overton High School in Nebraska...Notched a 12-point, 11-rebound double-double in the 2008 Nebraska Coaches Association All-Star Game...Earned first team all-state honors from both the Associated Press and Lincoln Journal Star as a senior...Averaged over 18 points and 13.5 rebounds per game as a senior...Also earned first team all-state honors as a junior and honorable mention all-state laurels as a sophomore...Holds Overton school records for points in a season, free throws in a season and a career...Grabbed a school-record 22 rebounds in a game as a senior...Played A.A.U. basketball for the Cornhusker Shooting Stars...Also a four-year standout in both volleyball and track...Named to the Omaha World Herald’s All-Nebraska volleyball team twice...Racked up a school-record 933 kills in her four-year career...Also qualified for the state track meet in the triple jump in 2006.
