Biography
2009-10: Martin started 29 of UE’s 30 games at point guard...The only game she did not play in was at Purdue (12/19) due to a concussion...Became the first freshman to start the season’s first nine games at point guard since former MVC Freshman of the Year Shinko Ono did so in 1998-99...Also was the first UE freshman to score double-figures in their UE debut since Chelsea Robinson in 2003, when she pitched in 11 points in the season-opener against Wisconsin-Milwaukee (11/13)...Ranked third on the team in scoring at 6.7 ppg...Also finished second on the team in steals (38) and three-point makes (23)...Her 38 steals were the most by a UE freshman since former MVC Defensive Player of the Year Rebekah Parker swiped 41 steals as a rookie during the 2004-05 season...Scored in double-figures seven times, including four times against MVC competition...Scored a season-high 17 points against Drake in the State Farm MVC Tournament on 7-of-14 shooting from the floor...Also had 14 points in UE’s 83-78 overtime victory over Wichita State (1/28)...Scored eight of her 14 points in the final 1:33 of regulation and overtime in the win over the Shockers...Also reached double-figures in MVC play at Missouri State (12 pts on 2/28) and against Illinois State (10 pts on 2/18)...Finished her rookie year strong, averaging 9.0 points and 2.3 assists per game over the last six games, while shooting 44.4 percent from three-point range (8-for-18).
At Pflugerville: One of the nation’s top point guard prospects in high school at Pflugerville High School in central Texas...Ranked 24th nationally for the point guard position in ESPNU HoopGurlz’s Top 100 recruiting rankings...Also ranked as the 12th-best recruit in the state of Texas by ESPNU HoopGurlz rankings...Named the Austin American Statesman All-Centex Player of the Year after directing the Panthers of Pflugerville to the state Final Four...Earned all-state honors from the Texas Girls Coaches Association as a senior...Also earned academic all-state and all-region honors from the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches...Was the District 14-5A MVP as a junior, as well as earning first team all-state honors from Texas Basketball...Selected to the Nike Regional Skills Academy and Girls Top Ten All-American Camp as a junior...Earned first-team all-district 14-5A honors as a sophomore...Earned all-star status at the Baylor Elite Basketball Camp as a sophomore...Played basketball for former University of Texas player Nancy Walling in high school...Also lettered one year in track, advancing to the regionals in the 300-meter hurdles as a sophomore.

Why UE?: What won me over was UE’s academic prestige. I knew that if I came here, it would better my future because I’d be receiving an excellent education. I also loved the campus. I think it is really beautiful and calming.
