Biography

At Evansville: Laura Gaybrick returns healthy this year, after missing all of last season due to an ACL injury...Has the ability to score with her back to the basket or along the perimeter...Gives UE good size, versatility, and leadership along the front line...Will battle for a starting spot at either center or power forward. 2005-2006: Gaybrick missed the entire 2005-06 season after tearing her ACL in an open scrimmage on October 29...Earned a medical redshirt and will have two years of eligibility remaining at UE...Served as one of UE’s four team captains, despite the injury. 2004-2005: Tied for the team lead in scoring at 11.1 points per game...Became only the second player (Diane Starry, 1990-91) in UE history to lead the team in all three shooting percentages...Ranked second in the MVC in free throw accuracy (84.9 percent) and third in the league in field goal percentage (52.6 percent)...Also shot 40.5 percent from three-point range...Tied for third on the team in rebounding (4.6 rpg)...Played in all 28 games, with two starts...Scored in double-figures in 17 games, including in each of the last five games...Scored a career-high 20 points vs. Illinois State (2/25)...Tossed in 19 points on 7-of-9 shooting vs. Tennessee Tech (12/21)...Named the MVC Player of the Week on February 7 after averaging 15.5 ppg on 13-of-18 shooting vs. Missouri State and Wichita State...Posted three double-doubles against Northern Iowa (11 pts., 10 reb. on 1/16), Indiana State (17 pts., 11 reb. on 2/23) and Creighton (16 pts., 11 reb. on 3/5). 2003-2004: Played in 25 of UE’s 27 games, with four starts...Averaged 4.6 ppg and 2.2 rpg...Finished fourth on the team in scoring in Valley play at 6.6 ppg...Led the team in field goal accuracy (51.3 percent)...Finished second on the squad in free throw percentage (81.0 percent)...Ranked third in the MVC in conference free throw percentage, hitting at an 86.5 percent clip...Scored a season-high 17 points vs. NCAA Tournament-bound Missouri State (1/26)...Also had 16 points and six boards against Indiana State (2/15)...Collected her first career double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds against Bradley (2/29). At Perry Meridian: A 2003 Indiana All-Star forward...Fifth-leading scorer and second-leading rebounder for Indiana in the Indiana-Kentucky All-Star series...Also an Indiana Junior All-Star in 2002...A second-team all-state pick as a senior...Helped lead the Falcons to the 2003 Class 4A championship game...Totaled over 1,000 points in two years of varsity play...Two-time team MVP...Averaged 18 ppg and 6.5 rpg as a senior...The Patricia L. Roy Mental Attitude Award Winner...Lettered three years each in basketball and soccer, and was an all-conference goalkeeper in soccer as well.
