WICHITA, Kan. – The University of Evansville volleyball team dropped their third straight match to the hands of the Wichita State Shockers on Friday night. Wichita State took the win in three games 30-26, 30-24 and 30-12. The Aces fall to 8-7 on the year and 1-3 in conference play. The Shockers now stand at 12-4 on the year and hold a 4-1 record in the conference.
The Aces battled in game one with Wichita State, but lost by a four point margin, 30-26. Setter Emily Whitney started the game with seven assists before eventually being sidelined because of injury. Former setter and current defensive specialist Elaine Walroth had to step in to take Whitney’s place. This was Walroth’s first time setting in 2007.
In game two, the Aces fell short once again falling to the Shockers 30-24. The Shockers would go on to nail down the win in game three winning it 30-12. Wichita State hit for a .342 percentage in the final game of the match.
The Aces were led by senior Danielle Diehl who finished with eight kills. Senior Megan Spurlock pitched in seven of her own. UE outdid the Shockers in the blocking department finishing with 16 block assists to Wichita State’s 11.
UE will be back in action on Saturday night against Missouri State in Springfield, Mo. The match is set to begin at 7:00 PM.
