MVC-Leading Bears Sweep Aces, 3-0

EVANSVILLE, Ind.-- The Missouri State Bears remained at the top of the Missouri Valley Conference in volleyball action Friday night, as the visiting Bears defeated the University of Evansville Purple Aces, 3-0, at the Carson Center in Evansville.

The Bears, now 11-1 in MVC play, topped Evansville 30-21, 30-28, 30-21, thanks to a balanced offensive attack.  Missouri State improved to 22-3 overall and 11-1 in the MVC, while Evansville dropped to 11-11 overall and 4-7 in the Valley.

Five Missouri State attackers had eight kills or more on Friday night, led by sophomore Sara Staubach with 12.  Senior Jamie Adams added nine kills, while senior Sara Thomas and freshmen Cara Hackmann and Shayla Patrick totaled eight each.

For Evansville, senior Julie Walroth continued her climb towards the top of UE?s record book for digs, contributing 14 digs on Friday.  That pushes her career total to 1,946, just 109 behind all-time leader Julie Groves.  In addition, Walroth has 507 digs this season, the fourth highest single-season total in Evansville history.  On the offensive side, senior Danielle Diehl added eight kills and a .300 hitting percentage.

The Aces continue MVC play tomorrow night at 7:00 p.m., as Evansville welcomes Wichita State (19-4, 10-1) to the Carson Center.
