TERRE HAUTE, Ind.--The University of Evansville volleyball team concluded its season Saturday night with a 3-1 victory over Indiana State. Southern Illinois clinched the No. 6 seed last night with a win over the Sycamores, eliminating Evansville from the Missouri Valley Tournament.
In game one, the Aces posted 20 kills and never gave up the lead in route to a 30-19 victory. The Sycamores bounced back in game two with a match high .293 average to defeat the Aces 30-28. The Sycamores out hit the Aces in game three, but the Aces posted 16 kills on their way to a 30-27 win. The Aces put the match away in game four tallying 16 kills in the 30-26 victory.
The Aces had four players with double digit kills in the match. Emily Wandersee led the Aces hitting .341 with ten digs and a match high 18 kills. Kerry Sylvester hit .344 with 14 kills and Ginta Gabruseva added 12 kills. Danielle Diehl recorded ten kills and five solo blocks. Julie Walroth posted a match high 29 digs and Elaine Walroth tallied 14 digs and a match high 54 assists.
Tonight was the last match for seniors Danielle Diehl, Megan Spurlock, Anne Teegardin, Elaine Walroth and Julie Walroth. The Aces ended their season with a 14-15 record and a 7-11 MVC record.
