The University of Evansville volleyball team was defeated at home when the Northern Iowa Panthers came to Evansville Friday night. The Aces were hoping for a win but fell short in a 3-0 sweep.
In game one, Danielle Diehl led the Aces, hitting .600 with three kills. Julie Walroth led the defense with ten digs. UNI's Ashten Stelken hit a stellar .667 with six kills to pace the Panthers. The Panthers as a team hit .278 with 13 kills on their way to a 30-18 victory.
Megan Spurlock had seven kills and Diehl added three kills for the Aces in game two. Julie Walroth had a match-high nine digs. Stelken and Shannon Aschoff had four kills each for the Panthers' attack. The Panthers held the Aces to .108 average and they took the second game 30-22.
The Aces put up a fight in game three, but fell short in a 30-20 loss. The Aces, as a team, hit .048 on the night with 35 kills and 28 attack errors. Julie Walroth led the Aces with 25 digs, while Megan Spurlock added 14 digs and nine kills. Sally Kulupka hit .357 with five kills and Danielle Diehl had five kills and three block assists.
The Aces will play their final regular season home match tomorrow night at 7 p.m. at Carson Center. The Aces will be hosting the Bradley Braves for senior night and five Aces will be honored before the match.
