Freshman Brooke Maher continues to be a spark for the Aces, both offensively and defensively. For her efforts this weekend, she was named the Missouri Valley Conference Freshman of the Week. She is one of two players on the team to play in every set this season.
Maher led the Aces' team this weekend at UNI and Bradley hitting .268 and averaging 3.71 kills per set. The Mason, Ohio native posted a double-double in Friday's match at UNI with 11 kills and 11 digs to lead the team. On Saturday, she posted a match-high 15 kills while hitting .324. She leads the team with 183 kills and is second on the team in digs at 212 and service aces with 16.
Maher posted her third straight game with double-digit kills for the first time this season in the Aces' 3-1 victory at Bradley on Saturday. She posted a season-high 22 against Southern Illinois, 11 at UNI, and 15 against Bradley. She now has nine matches with double-digit kills, including seven double-double matches.
