The teams picked one-two in the Missouri Valley Conference men's soccer race meet Saturday night in a contest featuring Evansville's high scoring offense and Creighton's outstanding defense.

The 7-3-1 Purple Aces are ranked 21st nationally in scoring with 2.09 goals per game. The 8-1-1 Bluejays come into Saturday's 7:00 Missouri Valley Conference opener at Morrison Stadium in Omaha with six consecutive shutouts. Ranked number two nationally by Soccer Times this week, the Jays haven't allowed a goal since losing to UMKC 1-0 on Sept. 13. Creighton has outscored its opposition 16-2, and goalkeeper Brian Holt is now second nationally with a 0.19 goals-allowed average following Wednesday's 1-0 win over Memphis.

UE's Mike Luttrull is ranked ninth nationally this week in points per game and 16th in goals scored. Teammate Tom Irvin is ranked eighth in assists with seven in 11 matches.

Creighton has won five in a row and 10 of the last 11 from UE. The Aces' only win in 12 trips to Omaha came in the 1996 MVC Tournament championship match.
